Mexican Stalwart Tacos El Gordo Plans a Retro-Vibe Location Close to Town Square

The California-based taco institution brings its fourth location with a mid-century modern design

The fast-casual dining institution Tacos El Gordo is currently only serving at its Losee Road and Charleston Boulevard locations from 11 a.m. to midnight. But during the shutdown, progress has been swiftly advancing to secure approvals for its fourth Las Vegas restaurant, headed very close to Town Square.

Moving onto the former site of a junkyard at 2550 W. Sunset Road, the 7,497-square-foot space sits at the intersection with Windy Road and faces Texas de Brazil across the street at the northern side entrance to the outdoor mall.

Despite the size, this built-from-the ground-up location will not include a drive-thru window, preferring diners take advantage of the dozens of parking spaces.

Locals GT/AD Studio have developed the California-retro meets mid-century modern exterior and early concept renderings posted on the company’s website match the designs included on updated permit filings.

Inside will be large enough for 232 seats, with room for 36 diners within nine booths. Similar in layout to its Charleston Boulevard outpost, customers will line up at individual serving stations to place orders.

Outside, two patios add a total of 72 seats facing Sunset Road
